Gamma Iota is a reference site about fraternity and sorority life for students and parents who are trying to understand how the Greek system actually works before anyone signs anything.
The questions people bring to Greek life are surprisingly consistent: What does it cost, really? What's the difference between all these councils? How does recruitment work, and how is it different from membership intake? What does a college have to tell you about a chapter's record? We answer those questions one page at a time, in plain prose, and we cite the umbrella organizations and government sources that actually govern this world rather than campus folklore.
The centerpiece is our Greek Life Semester Cost Estimator, which turns the vague "it depends" answer about dues into a rough, honest range based on the kind of organization, your stage of membership, and whether you'd live in a chapter house. It won't replace the itemized budget a chapter should hand you — nothing should — but it will tell you what order of magnitude to expect before you walk into a recruitment round.
